Symposium: Time to Develop

On growing up without rushing, learning at your own pace, and the importance of play within a close-knit social community.

To mark the doctoral graduation of Dr Christel Hartkamp, co-founder of Sudbury Amersfoort, we are organising an inspiring symposium on development, motivation, autonomy, and the role of time, trust, and play in education.

During the symposium, Professor Rob Martens and Dr Christel Hartkamp-Bakker will share current insights into self-directed learning, motivation, and human development. Current and former students of Sudbury schools will also engage in conversation with one another and with the audience about their experiences of growing up and learning in an environment without pressure or haste.

Sudbury schools organise education around voluntary engagement, self-directed learning, and democratic decision-making within a fully age-mixed community for children and young people aged four and above.

This symposium is intended for education professionals, parents, students, and anyone interested in what children and young people need in order to truly develop and flourish. Please note: the symposium will be conducted in Dutch.

Symposium Ontwikkeltijd
